A brand new casting call for Captain Marvel 2 will tease the arrival of another Ultimate into the MCU.
GWW discovered a casting description for the upcoming sequel to Captain Marvel seeking a male actor age 20-30 to get a part. The casting call says it’s seeking a John Boyega or Michael B. Jordan type, but no additional details were given. As the website points out, this would line up with recent concepts that Dr. Adam Brashear, called the Blue Marvel, will be making his MCU debut shortly.
While Jordan is obviously from the running for its role given his portrayal of Killmonger – along with the villain’s potential return in Black Panther 2 – Boyega has a relationship with Disney thanks to his function as Finn from the new Star Wars trilogy. That connection has been a rocky one, though Boyega has indicated he is on overall good terms with the studio. More likely, the well-known celebrities are simply being used to help cast the internet for an unknown actor for the role, which is typically how Marvel goes on obtaining fresh talent.
Even though there are world of characters in the comics which may fit the bill, and also a brand-new creation is much more than possible, Blue Marvel appears a strong competitor. In the comics, he’s a genius scientist with skills like Carol’s. In recent years, he has worked together with Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau’s Spectrum, America Chavez and Black Panther as a member of the Ultimates, a team that focuses on galactic and extra-dimensional problems. The biggest problem with this particular theory is that Blue Marvel is a far older character who was initially active in the’50s and’60s.

It would make sense to the character to debut in Captain Marvel two, which many assume will visit Carol traveling the cosmos and protecting the world from several threats. Monica, meanwhile, is set to appear at Captain Marvel two after a younger version of the character has been introduced in the first film. Inspired by Teyonah Parris, she is now on WandaVision, where she recently acquired powers similar to her comic book counterpart, who goes by Spectrum. And with America Chavez place to appear at Doctor Strange at the Multiverse of Madness, which itself will be linked to WandaVision through Scarlet Witch’s involvement, the stage seems set for an edition of the Ultimates.
Finally, WandaVision has teased an aerospace engineer with a link to Monica which has yet to appear. Theories regarding the character’s individuality have ranged from Reed Richards to Blue Marvel. In any event, the puzzle will soon be solved as WandaVision’s final episode will air this Friday.
