Twitch streamer The Grefg broke Twitch’s record for simultaneous viewers during a broadcast to reveal his Fortnite skin. TheĀ  streamer quickly surpassed the record of 700,000 simultaneous viewers, before setting the record for the most all-time viewers on the platform at more than 2.4 million. It’s a huge number and it shows how big the streamer is and how big Fortnite stays on the streaming platform! The next skin is part of the Fortnite Icon Series, which has previously seen skins based on streamers like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. At the time of writing, Epic Games has not announced a release date or price for the The Grefg-based skin.

The Grefg’s record of 2.4 million viewers beats ELEAGUE with 1.1 million and PlayStation with 1 million. Given the number of people tuned in to the broadcast, it will be interesting to see how popular the mask becomes. While The Grefg is not a household name in America, the streamer has a huge following around the world. As such, it stands to reason that this skin will become a common site in Fortnite matches after its release

The past year saw a number of major additions and events to Fortnite . From in-game concerts to skins based on the greatest heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe, 2020 was a huge year for Epic Games. The year ended with the addition of the Mandalorian is Din Djarin, God of War is Kratos, and HaloMaster Chief, which were added as part of Chapter 2 Season 5. With all that content, 2020 will be on top. However, Epic Games is clearly starting 2021 on an impressive note. Considering how many viewers tuned in to see The Grefg’s skin reveal, it looks like this skin could be the game’s next big thing.
