The series ended with a leap forward 1 season to Pop’s diner, in which a lonesome Jughead sat as others never returned as promised.
This little time jump prepares buffs for what’s to come, since the remainder of season five will occur seven years later on, together with Betty, Jughead, Archie and Veronica all grown up.

On February 4th the official Riverdale Twitter account declared that the series was renewed for another year (season six). They said :
“Still another round at Pops! #Riverdale was RENEWED for Season 6!”
For Riverdale lovers, this renewal is exciting news and also means that there’ll be a completely new year after season, letting them continue following the experiences of Betty, Archie, Veronica and Jughead.
