Netflix has released a series of new promo pictures for Castlevania season 4, revealing Alucard, Sypha, Trevor, and many others preparing for the bloody struggles to come. The anime series has received widespread acclaim since its premiere on Netflix in 2017, and it has led the way for a number of other video game adaptations on the streamer. Castlevania season 4, that will also be the show’s last season, is set to premiere on May 13.

Depending on the classic video game series of the same title, Castlevania takes place in a fictionalized 15th century Wallachia where vampires, demons, and other creatures of the night roam free. The ancient seasons dealt especially with Dracula and his war of vengeance against humanity following the killing of his wife, but the series has since expanded to incorporate a large ensemble of characters and factions. The center characters of Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard are pulled from Castlevania 3, while the remainder of the cast is a mix of later game additions and characters that are fresh.

Castlevania Season 4

The new promo pictures from Netflix show glimpses of what’s to come from Castlevania season 4, for example battle shots of Alucard, Sypha, and Trevor, a range of new deadly creatures, and some gorgeous locales. Season 4 will take the same stylish, gothic aesthetic as its predecessors, and the results are just as striking. “Wallachia collapses into chaos because factions clash: a few attempting to take control, others trying to bring Dracula back from the dead,” the official season 4 description reads. “nobody is that they appear, and no one could be trusted. These are the end times.” Check out the newest Castlevania season 4 pictures under.

Though it began as a relatively easy short-form video game adaptation, Castlevania has developed its individuality within the course of its first few seasons. The show has received high praise for the loyalty to the source material and its original worldbuilding. From the hyperviolent activity to the leading work of this series’ voice cast, Castlevania has set a blueprint in several ways for the way to perform video game adaptations precisely the right way. Its success has undoubtedly played into Netflix’s more recent rights acquisitions for additional significant game possessions like Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil.

Castlevania season 4’s teases that Dracula could be resurrected are especially exciting. The vampire dies and returns to life on numerous occasions in the video games, so there’s plenty of precedents to allow him to make a comeback. It appears like Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard will have their hands full in Castlevania season 4, particularly when Dracula remains a danger.
