Captain Marvel 2: Trailer And Everything You Want To Know About This Movie

Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel 2 casts Zawe Ashton Within an unknown character who’s expected to be the Protagonist. Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers made her MCU introduction in 2019’s Captain Marvel, after being teased in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War. Although her origin film was put in the 90s, she joined the modern-day MCU at Avengers: Endgame. After proving herself to be among the strongest Avengers from the MCU, and sporting a new haircut, at Endgame, Captain Marvel is set to be a key part of the billion-dollar superhero franchise going forward, with her very own solo sequel confirmed at SDCC in 2019.

Joining Larson in Captain Marvel 2 is Teyonah Parris as the elderly Monica Rambeau, a character that was introduced as a child in the first movie, and who is currently appearing in Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series WandaVision. Additionally, Iman Vellani will be from the Captain Marvel sequel, playing Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel after leading her Disney+ string. Now, Captain Marvel 2 is rounding out its core throw by adding a villain.

That Captain Marvel 2 has to throw Zawe Ashton as the main villain of the MCU sequel. Though details of her personality are unknown, She might not be the only villain in the film. Ashton most recently appeared opposite MCU alum Jake Gyllenhaal from the Netflix movie Velvet Buzzsaw.

It’s hard to speculate who Ashton could be playing Captain Marvel 2, since there are any number of Marvel villains who could appear in the MCU sequel. However, Deadline’s speculation that there could be multiple villains falls in accordance with the very first Captain Marvel film, which featured not only Jude Law as friend-turned-foe Yon-Rogg, but Annette Bening as the Kree’s Supreme Intelligence. It’s possible Ashton are the more obvious villain, while the other is shown later on in Captain Marvel 2. Together with Captain Marvel joined by Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau – who may or may not be her superhero alter-ego Spectrum by then – there are certainly enough superhero power to battle more than 1 villain in the film. Still, it remains to be seen who exactly Ashton is playing, though more could be revealed once filming on the movie starts.

With this addition of Ashton, who combines her fellow co-stars for the movie directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman) from a script by Megan McDonnell (WandaVision), Captain Marvel two is proving to be a truly female-fronted affair. Marvel fans have been calling for more representation in the MCU for a few years and it seems Marvel head Kevin Feige is delivering on the promises he left for greater diversity in front of and behind cameras. All told, the sequel is proving to be one of several exciting projects ahead of the MCU, and much more is guaranteed to be shown about Captain Marvel two after filming begins in the forthcoming months. Until it is confirmed, Ashton’s villain in Captain Marvel 2 is left to speculation.
