Was Taylor Swift’s $12K diamond ring stolen at the VMAs 2023?

Taylor Swift was the major winner at Tuesday night’s 2023 VMAs. She came away with nine new Moon Person statuettes — but no very valuable ring on her finger. The “Anti-Hero” hitmaker was one of the evening’s best-dressed celebs, walking the red carpet in over $160,000 in jewels. Including an antique Van Cleef & Arpels ring from Joseph Saidian & Sons priced at $12,000.

However, as seen in broadcast footage, the center diamond detail appeared to have become dislodged at some time. Maybe during the ceremony, Swift danced and applauded in the audience.

Tylor wasn’t wearing the ring at the afterparty later that night

The ever-expressive superstar can be seen grimacing and exhibiting the presumably damaged ring to a staffer in the viral video, sparking an all-hands-on-deck search for the shining stones. While it’s unknown whether the bling was ever recovered. The singer had a blank space on her left index finger while winning the Video of the Year award at the end of the show. And she wasn’t wearing it at an afterparty later that night.

Taylor changed into a denim mini-dress with sparkling silver heels for the after-party. While Selena wore a brilliant purple gown. In the outfit, she posed with her nine awards before being photographed at Diddy’s after-party at The Ned in New York City’s NoMad area.

Swift changed her nude lip to a red one for the occasion. But kept her makeup and hair the same as she did for the ceremony. Taylor took home nine of her eleven nominations, including Video of the Year for “Anti-Hero” and Artist of the Year.

A representative for Joseph Saidian & Sons did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Style. This isn’t the first time precious jewelry has gone stolen during a major awards event; when performing at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Ariana Grande’s $169,000 diamond choker went missing. “This is the first time a piece has broken while a celebrity was wearing it,” the rep said at the time, adding, “Fortunately, the piece did not slide off the stage!” To everyone’s relief, it was discovered on the side of the stage in a far corner.”
