The wait for Virgin River season 2 felt like an eternity when in reality it arrived on Netflix just a year after the premiere. All eyes are now on Season 3 which has been officially renewed and, according to our estimates, has already completed filming. Here’s everything we know about Virgin River season 3 so far.
Quick catch-up for anyone unfamiliar with the show. The Wellness Series is a cross between an ABC and a Hallmark show with a wellness story, down-to-earth characters, and excellent acting and writing. The first season of Virgin River dropped on December 6 while the second season just dropped on November 27.
The series remains incredibly popular and is in Netflix’s top 10 in most parts of the world, although it eventually dropped out of the top 10 in early January 2021.
The first one we heard about Virgin River Season 3 was back in July 2020 when we received a production list confirming that Season 3 was not only in development, but due to go into production from August. 2020 to December 2020.
It wasn’t until December 18, however, that Netflix gave its official approval to Season 3 (despite the fact that it had already started filming). The announcement comes with a few other goodies that we’ve included below.
Netflix Queue included a video alongside the Season 3 announcement
Before the renewal, the most compelling evidence of not only Season 3’s existence, but also the start of filming, was when the two main cast members posted a video saying the new season was “coming out in 7.” days”. You can see the pair how looks on a movie set.
The filming of the series was however reported as early as September 2020. On September 7, 2020, a Twitter user by the name of Jen Eggleston stumbled upon a production notice in Cleveland Dam. What’s worth noting is that the notice lists 2019 on the daily calendar, although the actual days are dates in 2020.
Beyond the return of the main cast, we already have a new cast for season 3.
The confirmed returning cast for Season 3 includes Martin Henderson, Alexandra Breckenridge, Jenny Cooper, Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Colin Lawrence.
The first new cast we’ve heard so far is Jasmine Vega to play the role of Stella starting in season 3. Vega has previously appeared in titles such as Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as Lizzie and DC’s Legends. of Tomorrow.
Hope and Doc seem to be a happy couple once again and Lizzie and Ricky could help matters too.
A release date has yet to be announced, but given the show’s production schedule, there’s a good chance we’ll see a fall release date again, which means we’re currently waiting for the Season 3 of Virgin River to be on Netflix by the end of 2021.
Virgin River’s Instagram account is vague enough to answer questions surrounding a release date with the best answer saying, “We have an order for season three but we don’t know when it will be released.”
