“The Orville has been a labor of love for me, and now there are two companies that have affirmed that vision in a large way: 20th Century Fox Television, where I’ve had a bargain since the start of my career, and FOX Broadcasting Company, now FOX Entertainment, which has been my broadcast home for over 20 decades. My buddies at the community understood what I was attempting to do with this show, and they’ve done a spectacular job of marketing, launching, and programming it for these past 2 seasons. But while the show has developed and become more ambitious production-wise, I decided that I would not have the capability to deliver episodes before 2020, which could be challenging for the community.

It is just this type of openness to accommodate a series’s creative needs that are made me want to stay around for so long. I am hugely indebted to Charlie Collier and FOX Entertainment because of their generosity and look forward to developing potential projects there. And to my new friends at Hulu, I look forward to our new venture exploring the galaxy together.”
