The first Monday in May of 2023 was the date of the Met Gala. The event was a tribute to the famous Late Karl Lagerfeld. Celebs paid tribute to the Designer in many ways through their fashion. Some wore vintage pieces created by the man himself, while others wore pieces inspired by his aesthetic as rival fashion houses reinterpreted some of his most well-known works.
We also appreciated several allusions to the Camellia, a tonne of pearls, a hint of tweed, and hundreds upon thousands of crystal embellishments. The red carpet was full of monochrome outfits; black and white looked best.
Doja Cat slays the Met Gala Theme
Karl Lagerfeld’s fondness of cats was referenced in Doja Cat’s Met Gala 2023 outfit. She wore a silver Oscar De La Renta dress that was embellished with sequins and was accessorized with fake cat ears and a human face. Lagerfeld’s love of cats was lighthearted and creatively celebrated in the ensemble. It’s reasonable to assume that Doja Cat would be envious of the 2019 Cats movie if it could see Doja Cat’s appearance. Overall, her distinctive and striking outfit was a success at the party.

Naomi Campbell in vintage Chanel
When Naomi Campbell and other Nineties supermodels stepped out in one of Karl Lagerfeld’s designs. It was the ideal night to dress in some vintage Chanel. She made the stylish and sophisticated choice of a pink satin dress with embellished elements from Chanel’s spring/summer 2010 couture line.
Anne Hathaway in Versace
It’s always wonderful to watch fashion houses show respect to one another, and this topic provided many examples. The outfit worn by Anne Hathaway, which was the ideal mash-up of Versace and Chanel, was one of our fave interpretations of this. The actress donned a floor-length, tweed gown with safety pins by Versace that was made of one color.
Rihanna in Valentino
The Met Gala’s queen has come, and she’s taken her king along for the ride. Rihanna looked stunning in a white flowery dress with structural blooms that appeared to drape over her head like a hooded cloak. A pair of dark shades completed the ensemble and just enhanced her unforced calm. Her partner A$AP Rocky, who was dressed in a black dress coat, a red tartan kilt with a train, and embroidered trousers, didn’t fall short either. He completed his ensemble with a slender black tie and a stack of Gucci belts, demonstrating once more how well-dressed this pair is.
Anok Yai in Prabal Gurung
One of the night’s best outfits came from Anok Yai and Prabal Gurung, who played with tulle, crystals, and the most beautiful silhouette. She accessorized her tiny dress with edgy sunglasses and silky opera gloves that reached her elbows.
Dua Lipa in Vintage Chanel
Dua Lipa amazed in a classic Chanel gown that oozed grandeur at the 2023 Met Gala. She had her hair down and was wearing a long silver necklace. She was dressed in all black. The outfit was originally designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel’s 1992 fall/winter collection. Lipa’s attire honored the illustrious fashion designer while also exhibiting her own distinctive flair and grace. The “Levitating” singer ensured that she was the center of attention as she walked the Met Gala red carpet in her gorgeous gown.
Cardi B
Cardi B demonstrated once more why she is a fashion icon. With this year’s theme being “in honor of Karl,” the rapper dazzled on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a ballgown by Chenpeng Studio. The dress had a white shirt collar and tie that led to a fitted black bodice with silver studs and a voluminous black skirt with sculptural rosettes that were evocative of Chanel’s Boy Bag.
Alia Bhatt
Prabal Gurung, a Nepalese-American fashion designer, created Alia Bhatt’s breathtaking wedding white gown for her Met Gala red carpet debut. The dress was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s renowned wedding collection at Chanel. And had a lengthy train, corseted finish, and immaculate white color. Given that this year’s Met Gala honors the late designer’s legacy with an exhibition, it was the ideal homage. Alia smiled at the photographers while wearing a lovely outfit on the famous Met Museum steps.
Michaela Coel in Schiaparelli
Michaela Coel had a huge night because she was one of the hostesses for the event. Because of this, she needed to look amazing on the red carpet, which she most surely did. For the occasion, the actress and director donned a Schiaparelli gown embellished with 130,000 crystals.
Lily Collins in Vera Wang
We also got to witness how other designers interpreted Karl Lagerfeld’s creations, and we really liked Vera Wang’s interpretation. Lily Collins donned a stunning dress by Karl Lagerfeld. Which had a white bodice and a flowing black skirt with the name ‘Karl’ stitched into the train.
