Meanwhile, Margot has to figure out what happened to Fillory during the 300 years she was away. The Dark King has taken over and she needs to learn what happened to Fen and Josh.

The Magicians Season 5 Wasn’t Meant To Be The Final Season
SYFY made the sad decision to cancel the series along the way. The Magicians Season 5 was never meant to be the last, but there’s good news to come with it.
All of the previous seasons have ended with some major cliffhangers for the group that are easy to understand. This is not the case with the fifth season. While not destined to be the last, the creators felt it could happen. Instead of leaving the series on a major cliffhanger, the creators have chosen to encapsulate the majority of the storylines.
There were content for a sixth season, but the season finale at least functions as a series finale.
