Stress is a common and predictable aspect of life. Many of us have been experiencing higher-than-normal levels of anxiety and worry, particularly in the last 1.5 years. With so much uncertainty surrounding public health and safety, as well as the economy, you may be feeling more nervous than ever.

In the past, you might have been able to feel better by turning to meditation, a nap, your favorite group workout class, journaling, or other methods. If those are no longer effective, you may require new, exciting, and one-of-a-kind methods of lowering your levels.

Organize a solo dance party

Music has a way of singing the words we can’t say. And we all have songs that we can’t get enough of because they always make us feel better or help us process whatever we’re going through. Consider creating a playlist of your favorite songs and listening to it the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed. Then you can dance it out.

Look for a mindless distraction

When frightening thoughts race through your mind, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to regain control. Before you succumb to the stress, try to find healthy ways to distraourself. While the typical go-to methods of talking to a friend or moving your body are included, it can also be beneficial to get creative.

Do something unexpected

If your daily routine has become increasingly monotonous, waking up in the morning may cause anxiety. When you have anxiety, daily triggers are all around you. Disrupting your schedule is the best way to deal with these feelings.

This could be as simple as taking a different route to a location you visit several times a week, trying out a new restaurant or coffee shop, enrolling in a dance class, or getting up a little earlier and starting the day for yourself.
