Actor Jamie Foxx has responded to rumors suggesting that he will return as Electro for Spider-Man 3. The actor previously played the villain in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, released in 2014, which is not part of the MCU or Sony’s new line of movies starring Tom Holland.

However, with rumors circulating that the currently untitled third Spider-Man installment will see Holland alongside Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the other two actors who have played Peter Parker, some fans are wondering if That will also open the door for more non-MCU villains to appear.

While promoting his new Pixar movie ‘Soul’, in which he voices Joe, the main character, he was directly asked if he would return as Electro for the third installment, and his answer has certainly been very politically correct:

Foxx has many options to appear in the film in some capacity, but an official announcement of the cast has yet to be made.

What could lend more credence to the speculation of Electro’s return is the fact that Doctor Strange will be involved in the film, perhaps suggesting that the multiverse will have a role to play in the story.

At the moment there is a lot left for ‘Spider-Man 3’, specifically one year. The movie is scheduled for December 17, 2021. What will Marvel surprise us with?
