Remember when the cast of Avengers: Endgame received fake scripts to prevent them from counting ‘spoilers’ of the film during its promotion? Well, another film has followed a similar strategy. Scream, the fifth installment of Wes Craven’s famous horror saga, will hit theaters on January 14, 2022, and its producer William Sherak has confirmed that they have kept it is ending a secret by giving the cast fake scripts.

“There are multiple versions of the script out there and most of the cast don’t know if they have the correct version or not,” begins Sherak on Cinemablend. “So we’ve been playing that game with them too. And the funny thing about a Scream movie is that everyone is guilty until proven innocent, not the other way around. So the goal is to keep it this way as long as possible and have fun with it, ”he concludes.

Who will hide behind Ghostface, the saga’s iconic masked villain, this time around? From the producer’s words, it appears that both fans and cast will not know for sure until the film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, hits theaters.

Scream has in its cast the returns of three veteran actors of the franchise. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette will return as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley, respectively. The film has also added new faces. This is the case of Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, and Jenna Ortega; among others.
