Sachin Tendulkar, fondly known as Master Blaster, is one of the best batsmen of all time. Born on 24th April 1973 in Mumbai, Sachin started playing cricket from the tender age of 11. Ramesh Tendulkar, Sachin’s father, was a well-known Marathi novelist & poet and his mother, Rajni, worked in the insurance industry. Sachin has three elder siblings. He has two half-brothers Nitin and Ajit, and a half-sister Savita. Nitin, Ajit, and Savita were Ramesh’s children by his first wife. Ramesh’s first wife died at the birth of their third child.
Since childhood, Sachin lived at Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative Housing Society with his family. It was at this society where his first tryst with cricket began. While Sachin was a young boy, he had bullying tendencies. Therefore, his big brother Ajit introduced him to cricket. He took Sachin to He introduced him to Ramakant Achrekar who was a famous cricket coach. Reportedly, Sachin broke innumerable windows while practicing in his society.
At the age of sixteen, he made his Test debut on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi. From then onwards, he went on to represent Mumbai domestically and India internationally. Sachin is the only player to have scored one hundred international tons, the first batsman to score a double century in an ODI. He is the holder of the record for the number of runs in both ODI and Test cricket. Sachin is the only Indian player to complete more than 30,000 runs in international cricket.

His Family and Autobiography
Sachin met Anjali at the Mumbai International airport. When he was returning from his first international tour, he saw Anjali at the airport. Sachin fell in love with Anjali as soon as his eyes laid on her. However, unexpectedly, Sachin was introduced by a common friend to Anjali. At that time, Anjali did not know anything about sports or cricket. The duo began dating soon afterward. After dating for 5 years, on 24 May 1995, Tendulkar married Anjali Mehta. By profession, Anjali is a pediatrician of Gujarati origin. They have two children together- a daughter Sara and a son Arjun.

Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography titled Playing It My Way was released on 6 November 2014. The book got listed in the Limca Book of Records. It broke the record of maximum pre-orders with 1,50,289 copies confirmed. Playing It My Way discusses Sachin’s 24 years of international career and aspects of his life that have not been shared with the public.
Sachin has been awarded multiple awards throughout his life- Arjuna Award in 1994, Khel Ratna in 1997, Padma Shri in 1998, and Padma Vibhushan in 2008 honors. Also, he is the only sportsperson to be lauded the Bharat Ratna in 2013.
