Outer Banks is among the most popular and best Netflix shows of 2020. The show premiered on Netflix in April 2020 throughout the second month of the global pandemic. Now, fans can’t wait to watch Outer Banks season 2. Unfortunately, Outer Banks season 2 will not be on Netflix in April 2021.

Outer Banks was my beloved new Netflix first show of 2020, and that I, also, can’t wait to see Outer Banks season two.

Because of all of the production delays and stoppages, there was confusion among fans on the internet that Outer Banks was canceled after the first season. There were a few Netflix indicates which were revived and then canceled due to the increased cost of production and logistics.

We shared with an Outer Banks season 2 release date update to help clear up some of that confusion and give fans a better idea of when to expect the new season.

Is there going to be an Outer Banks season 2?

Yes! We had to wait a couple of months, but eventually, Outer Banks was renewed for season 2 at Netflix.

We heard about the renewal in July 2020. Netflix shared a movie of the cast, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, and much more, announcing that the series would return in season two.

There was a scare late in 2020 which came from somewhere (I don’t know where) the show was canceled, but that simply was not the case. Outer Banks season 2 was, is, and continues to be formally occurring at Netflix. It’s likely to be crazy!

When is Outer Banks season 2 filming?

Production on Outer Banks seasons 2 began pretty quickly after the season two renewal was declared. While Netflix did not announce the beginning of production formally, it resembles production that began at the end of August 2020.

It also appears filming on season 2 continued during the fall and into the winter of 2020. Based on pictures shared on social networking, it appears like the production on Outer Banks season 2 wrapped at the end of January 2021.

We have not verified that Outer Banks’ season 2 production has ended, but it appears that way. We’ll allow you to know that production has finished when we can confirm it.

With season two production seemingly near the end or done, fans are understandably curious to discover when the Outer Banks season 2 release date will be.

Outer Banks Season 2

Outer Banks Season 2 Release Date

‘Outer Banks’ Season 1 premiered in its entirety on April 15, 2020, on Netflix. The first season consists of ten episodes with a runtime of 46-57 minutes each.

In terms of the second season, here’s the information. Netflix ordered another setup on July 24, 2020, albeit without declaring the specific release date. Jonas Pate revealed that Netflix had asked them to start drawing up the scripts for season two, way before they officially greenlit it. Considering that the broadcasts were ready, the team was set to begin shooting soon after the limits were raised.

Keeping in mind that the new production protocols, the production team started the filming for the second round of this show on August 31, 2020, and wrapped up from the end of January 2021. Hence, the release date is dependent upon how long the post-production takes. For season 1, the filming wrapped up in October 2019 and has been released after almost six months in April 2020. In case the same is applied to season 2, we may get the new season just in or around July 2021. Therefore, we can anticipate ‘Outer Banks’ season 2 to release sometime in Summer 2021.

Fans may also be delighted to know that the creators have planned the series to run for at least four seasons, or even more. Jonas Pate told Entertainment Weekly, “Ever since we began, we always viewed it as something that was likely enjoying a four-season, maybe five-season show, but four seasons.” He added, “We’ve sort of long-arced out it pretty far. I am only hoping that we get a chance to tell those stories.”

Outer Banks Season 2 Cast & Crew

Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline will return to Outer Banks Season two in their respective functions as John B and Sarah. Their forbidden love crossing class lines will probably continue to be a significant part of the upcoming season. Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Rudy Pankow will likely return as John B’s best friends Kiara, Pope, and JJ. The series set up Ward is the antagonist for the second season of the show, meaning Charles Esten will even return to the favorite Netflix series.

Lost and Once Upon a Time alum Elizabeth Mitchell will combine the series as”Limbrey, a long-time Charleston native; a compelling woman with a degree of toxicity and menace beneath her seemingly courteous ways.” Since Mitchell is a fairly recognizable television actress, her inclusion in the series signals Outer Banks’ rising popularity. If a potential Outer Banks Season 3 happens, the show’s star power will continue to grow. But it is dependent on just how season 2 works on Netflix.
