The Netflix crime thriller about a Chicago family forced to move into the Ozarks to make cash for a Mexican cartel is one of the streaming agency’s greatest originals, as well as the show, which stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, reached new heights in 2020 with its better-than-ever third season that garnered 18 Emmy nominations, such as among that Julia Garner took home for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
While it took nearly a year and a half for the show to follow up on its next setup, considering all of the jaw-dropping moments and that closing blood-shed shot of the year, fans are already clamoring for more. Here’s everything we know about Season 4 of Ozark so far.
Season 4 of Ozark is expected this year and is set to be the show’s last. The show will, however, be divided into two parts consisting of seven episodes each. And though the series is on track to release the first half this year, fans might have to wait until 2022 for the moment.
The news broke on multiple Netflix social networking platforms, confirming that season 4 will be the last of Ozark, with the caveat that it will be divided into two halves. Fourteen episodes will make up season four in total, with each half being seven episodes.
The most important cast members will be returning. So that is Laura Linney and Jason Bateman back in the lead roles as Wendy and Marty.
Back in November, Netflix announced that Bruno Bichir, CC Castillo, and Katrina Lenk will even combine the fourth year in recurring roles, whereas Alfonso Herrera, Adam Rothenberg, Felix Solis, along Damian Young will join the cast as series regulars.
At the end of February, Deadline reported X-Men celebrity Bruce Davison is also joining the season four cast.
The conclusion of series three was certainly a shock to fans. The cliffhanger, which saw Marty and Wendy start working with Omar Navarro on a close company foundation, is setting up for the new episodes to research their relationship further. Fans can also expect season four to expand on the household side, especially after Wendy has been made to order her brother Ben’s murder.
Craig Mundy, the lead author on Ozark, said of the upcoming installment: “I think it will be about if the Byrdes will turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge benefit, and also how much will karma catch up if they perform?
