MSD’s Early Life, Family, and Cricket
M.S. Dhoni (full name: Mahendra Singh Dhoni) is an Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team. Born July 7, 1981 (Present Age: 40 years old) in Ranchi (then in Bihar), he is lovingly called Mahi or Thala by his fellow team mates. Dhoni belongs from a Hindu Rajput family. His father is Pan Singh who worked in a management position in a company and his mother is Devaki Devi who is a housewife. Dhoni has two siblings- a sister Jayanti Gupta and an elder brother Narendra Singh Dhoni.
M.S. Dhoni studied at Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi. In his school football team, Dhoni used to be a goal keeper. However, he was sent to a local cricket club by his football coach. Even though he had never played cricket, Dhoni was quite good at wicket-keeping. Therefore, from 1995-1998, Dhoni was a star wicketkeeper at the Commando cricket club. He seriously started focusing on cricket after completing his 10th standard.
For 2 years, Dhoni worked as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur railway station. He was posted under South Eastern Railway in Midnapore (W) which is a district in West Bengal.
His Cricket Journey: How it began?
The first time Dhoni stepped into professional cricket was to play for the Central CoalFields Limited (CCL) team. His talent was exceptional and it impressed Deval Sahay. Further, Deval used his contacts in Bihar Cricket Association to push for his selection in the Bihar team. For the 1999–2000 season, Dhoni debuted for the senior Bihar Ranji Team.
Also, he was included in the Bihar U-19 team for the 1998–99 season. He continued to play for Ranji Trophy for over three years. Thereafter, he was picked by BCCI’s small-town talent-spotting initiative TRDW. From then onwards, his career graph only went upwards. He participated in ODI, T-20, IPL, and many International matches. He made a name for himself in the cricketing world.

Dhoni’s Married Life
Sakshi and Mahendra Singh Dhoni first met at Taj Bengal. At that time, Sakshi was doing her internship there for her course in hotel management. They shortly began dating thereafter from March 2008. On 4th July 2010, Dhoni married his schoolmate and girlfriend, Sakshi Singh Rawat. On 6 February 2015, the couple gave birth to a beautiful girl. They named her Ziva.
