If you have already completed your Lupin binge, we’ve got good news and bad news. The good: More episodes of the series are on the way. The bad: you’ll have to wait until summertime to watch them.

Netflix announced in January that its popular new show Lupin will go back for another installment–using its final five episodes–this summer. We don’t know what is in store yet because of its French heist thriller, but director Marcela Said teased that there’ll be”a lot of action, for sure. And emotion.”

Set in Paris, Lupin is loosely based on the French literary protagonist Arsène Lupin, a dapper burglar (think James Bond matches Robin Hood) made by Maurice Leblanc in 1905. Although the specific fictional character doesn’t appear in the Netflix series, he’s there in spirit. Lupin is the inspiration for protagonist Assane Diop, performed by Omar Sy, on his quest to avenge his late father, who died 25 years before after being accused of a crime he did not commit.

Lupin part 2 release date

Netflix is releasing Lupin part 2 in summer 2021, based on the latest teaser trailer. The streamer has not announced a more specific premiere date, however.

Lupin Part 2

Who stars in Lupin?

Lupin Part One starred Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World) as Assane, the Parisian gentleman burglar who draws inspiration from the Arsène Lupin books.

Meanwhile, Vincent Londez (Public Enemy, Into the Night) plays Captain Romain Laugier. Other cast members include Ludivine Sagnier (The Young Pope), Clotilde Hesme (Regular Lovers), Nicole Garcia (Families), Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Antoine Gouy, Fargass Assandé and Shirine Boutella.

There’s a teaser trailer now.

Netflix shared a first glance at the upcoming episodes using a volatile teaser trailer. The synopsis from the caption teases, “Assane’s quest for revenge from Hubert Pellegrini has ripped his family to bits. With his back to the wall, he has to think of a new strategy, even though it means putting himself at risk.”

What is the plot of Lupin Part 2?

Since Lupin Part two will pick up quickly where it’s very first character left off, its plot is expected to solve some of the strain built up for the series’ first five episodes. After Part 1, a henchman working for Hubert Pellegrini kidnaps Assane and Claire’s son Raoul. As of this fifth episode’s conclusion, Raoul remains lost. Lupin is occasionally dark in tone but never hopeless, so Raoul is likely to make it back home at any stage during Part 2.

Central to the tension between Assane and Claire is the fact that Claire is unaware of the scope of Assane’s secret existence. Including both his endeavors as a gentleman burglar and an affair shown in episode 5 involving him and Hubert Pellegrini’s daughter Juliette. That matter is very likely to be solved in Part 2, whether through reconciliation between Assane and Claire or they’re falling out.

Ultimately, Detective Youssef, as the narrative now stands, is the only investigator suspicious of Assane’s function for a gentleman burglar. How that knowledge might hinder Assane’s quest for revenge is very likely to affect the story of Part 2.
