You may remember the Suicide Squad starring Will Smith back in 2016, a movie that wasn’t much loved by anyone. James Gunn’s fresh take on the band of misfits has generated enough hype as of now. The release date is nearing and the critic’s reviews are in for the movie, which is not a reboot of the 2016 disappointment. Many renowned critics and movie review brands took to social media to release their statements about the new James Gunn movie.

Brandon Davis from Rotten Tomatoes tweeted, “#TheSuicideSquad is absolutely insane. Violent as hell, raunchy, unforgiving. James Gunn is fully unleashed. It’s sometimes overwhelming. It has moments of heart, humor, action, emotion… all of it. Relentless. There’s nothing like it. Damn!” In another successive tweet by him, he said, “#TheSuicideSquad brings some awesome new characters and cast to this world.

Suicide Squad Start Cast

John Cena, Idris Elba, Daniela Melchior, David Dastmalchian, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman… all fantastic. Everybody will have a different favorite character. Ratcatcher-2 really stands out!”

Erik Davis from Fandango tweeted, “I had the BEST time watching #TheSuicideSquad — it is a swing-for-the-fences kind of comic book movie & I love that. It’s big, bold & visually stunning. You will see James Gunn’s horror roots splattered all over this thing. It’s violent but hilarious. Angry, but also VERY sweet.” Further extending the thread, he said, “Idris Elba’s Bloodsport & David Dastmalchian’s Polka-Dot Man are major stand-outs for me (Bloodsport has the coolest weapons, btw). I also thought this was the best we’ve seen of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. Her journey in this film is actually quite lovely… and quite bloody!”

People Magazine’s Kara Warner was amazed by the bluntness of The Suicide Squad and tweeted, “So this skeptic loved #TheSuicideSquad. It is balls to wall *bonkers* in very entertaining ways. i.e. If you’re wondering whether James Gunn and that super rad @SuicideSquadWB cast would truly go there w/ the material & the R-rating, indeed they DO.”

Insider’s renowned critic Kristen Acuna was amazed at the execution of the movie and said, “the Suicide Squad is probably the wildest, wackiest, bloodiest comic book movie I’ve ever seen. Very clear they let James Gunn run wild and not hold back. Definitely gives Harley one of her best scenes period.”

Clearly, critics are completely floored by this wackiest adaption of James Gunn and are considering it one of the best flicks in DCEU’s history. The Suicide Squad will premiere on 28 July 2021 in France.
