The announcement of the Indian squad for ODIs, tests and T20Is for the Australian Tour has drawn harsh criticism from several veterans as well as fans. Apparently, the fans of Rohit Sharma are disappointed as the legendary opener was left out of the squad due to injury. However, the major disappointment came due to the inclusion of KL Rahul in the Indian test squad.
KL Rahul is in a blistering form in IPL 2020 and is leading an excellent comeback for his side, Kings XI Punjab. Sanjay Manjrekar took to Twitter to voice his disappointment against the inclusion of KL Rahul in the Indian test squad. Rishabh Pant and Wriddhaman Saha are two other wicket keeper batsmen in the Indian test squad. KL Rahul is the vice captain of the Indian ODI and T20I side while Ajinkya Rahane is the vice captain for the Indian test team in the upcoming tour against Australia.
You set a bad precedent when you recall a player for Tests on IPL performance. Especially if the player has been an abject failure in his last few Tests. Whether that player succeeds or fails is irrelevant, such selections massively demotivate Ranji players. #INDvsAUS

Sanjay Manjrekar also posted KL Rahul’s statistics from his last 5 test matches against major test playing nations. With a dismal average of 10.7 against Australia in the last five tests, Sanjay Manjrekar felt that Rahul was very lucky to get a recall based on his form in IPL 2020. He also wished KL Rahul good luck in the upcoming tests against Australia.
KL Rahul in his last 5 Test series
– v SA – Avg 7.1
– v Eng – Avg 29
– v WI at home – Avg 18
– v Aus – Avg 10.7
– v WI – Avg 25.4
I say very lucky to get a recall based on IPL & white ball performance. But now let’s just hope he makes the most of this chance. Good luck to him! https://t.co/YBVbeut5jH
