There has been a hot topic in the air of the entertainment industry for a long time about uniformity in payment to both genders. This point of pay parity has been raised many times by many actresses like Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut and has been spoken publicly many times, but other than that many actresses have still maintained their silence. Earlier this year, in June there was a huge outcry and fuss about Kareena Kapoor Khan demanding twelve(12) crores for her role of Sita, in a mythological-based drama film.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was trolled regarding the high fees demands, in fact, a boycott Kapoor Kapoor was also in trend for a span of time. Netizens also trolled Kareena by making a point of hurting religious sentiments as she is asking too much for playing the role of Sita. People using Twitter as their platform have even called Kareena “Greedy” and another user wrote that ” This role cannot be played by an actress who doesn’t respect Hindu god.” People have also asked to boycott Bebo’s movies like Good News.
Kareena really felt to put up her opinion, and finally broke the ice of silence and spoke about equal pay in the industry. Previously many actresses like Tapsee Panu, Kriti Sanon took stand for Kareena and spoke for her, Tapsee Panu replied to the troller by stating: “If it would have been a man in that position who would have asked for that much amount, people would have said, ‘Iski market badh Gayi hai'(His market value has increased). That guy has really achieved big success in life.’ It’s because a woman who is asking for it is called out to be ‘difficult’ or ‘too demanding’. It’s always like that. You will always read about this issue about the hike in salary when it comes to women.
However Kareena has not spoken anything directly, but she has an opinion and is firm about that all she has asked for is respect for her demands, as she has just demanded what she wanted.

You have a film with Aamir Khan later this year, there was talk that you were getting ₹12 crores, you were asking for ₹12 crores, and other actresses came out in support of you, but I think that was fake news…”, Kareena avoided the question and only shook her head saying “Yeah, yeah…”.
