Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Chris Rock were all close until March 27, 2022. When Smith smacked Rock during the 94th Academy Awards, causing a public spectacle that had social media buzzing for months.
That night, while presenting an award, Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith, whose head is shaved due to the autoimmune condition alopecia, prompting Smith to walk up to the platform and hit Rock in the face live.
Smith returned to his seat and told Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f—ing mouth.” Smith has subsequently apologized for the slap, and Pinkett Smith discussed the incident in her new memoir, “Worthy,” which was released on October 17.
