Jada Pinkett Smith refers to Chris Rock as her ‘brother’ in her forthcoming memoir. She discusses her and husband Will Smith’s rocky relationship with the comic, as well as the “misunderstanding” that resulted in the Oscars slap. Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Chris Rock were all close until March 27, 2022. When Smith smacked Rock during the 94th Academy Awards, causing a public spectacle that had social media buzzing for months.

That night, while presenting an award, Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith, whose head is shaved due to the autoimmune condition alopecia, prompting Smith to walk up to the platform and hit Rock in the face live.

Smith returned to his seat and told Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f—ing mouth.” Smith has subsequently apologized for the slap, and Pinkett Smith discussed the incident in her new memoir, “Worthy,” which was released on October 17. Pinkett Smith refers to the comedian as her “brother,” and says she received “holy lessons” as a result of Rock’s dig at her beauty.

Pinkett Smith writes in her 2023 memoir “Worthy” that Rock and Smith had “a big ole misunderstanding” that resulted in “decades of disrespect” that Pinkett Smith claims began long before she entered the picture.
