According to Bloomberg, Instagram is “secretly researching” a text-based app to compete with Twitter, and the release date may be as early as next month. Although the new platform is a different app from Instagram, it has been accessible to a small group of celebrities and content creators for months. There will be a possibility to link accounts, though.
Instagram could give Twitter some fresh rivalry shortly. Many users have been upset with the modifications since Elon Musk paid $44 billion to buy Twitter in 2022. These changes range from the reinstatement of contentious accounts to the implementation of Twitter Blue.
Even the most devoted tweeters are losing interest, according to data. Twitter was bought by billionaire Elon Musk in October. He recently disclosed that NBCUniversal’s Linda Yaccarino would succeed him as the company’s CEO. The Pew Research Center found that since Musk bought the company, activity among Twitter’s “most active” users had decreased by 25%.
According to Bloomberg, the next Instagram app is planned to be live this summer. Instagram users can currently share “stories,” images, and videos. Additionally, it now offers an in-app messaging service that enables users to communicate anonymously. It will allow users to communicate by exchanging text, photographs, posts, and tales.
According to reports, the corporation has been providing covert access to content creators for months and is currently testing the initiative with influencers and celebrities. It will be ready for the general public by June 2023. Although the app will be independent of Instagram, users will be able to interact with other apps through it. Although decentralized, it will facilitate user interaction on competing networks like Mastodon.
