New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Thursday rubbished media reports that claimed that train ticket reservation counters would be abolished. West Central Railway said on Twitter that no such step has been taken by the Railways and no such proposal is under consideration.

Before this clarification from the Railways, other things were also clarified. The Indian Railways had earlier said that there has been no change in the rules for booking tickets for children traveling by train.

In a notification of the Ministry of Railways on March 6, 2020, it has been said that children below five years of age will travel free of cost. However, the Railways said that in such a situation, a separate berth or seat (in the chair car) will not be given. It was said that passengers can buy tickets if they require a berth/seat for their children below 5 years of age. In that case, the normal fare will be charged.

Recently it was being claimed that the Indian Railways has changed the rules regarding ticket booking for children traveling in the train. It has been claimed in these reports that now children in the age group of one to four years will have to take a ticket to travel in the train. Talking on this, the Railways called these claims misleading. Said that the Indian Railways has not made any changes regarding the booking of tickets for children traveling in the train.
