Met Gala Rules should not be Broken if the Celebs want to continue there presence
With the A-list of Hollywood flashing their stuff on the renowned steps of the NYC museum. The annual Met Gala has grown into a sought-after invitation for celebrities. The Met Gala is an expensive and private event, with last year’s gala collecting $17 million for the Costume Institute because of the high ticket prices and exclusive guest list.
Although Wintour, the editor of Vogue and the event’s organizer, acknowledged there is no specific formula for receiving an invitation. It is now somewhat more obvious who will not be invited back.
The two main prohibitions were made public during an interview on May 1 by Wintour and Met curator Andrew Bolton.
Bolton remarked that such behavior would be improper. Despite the fact that celebrities have broken the stringent rule by smoking in the lavatories. (In 2017, Bella Hadid, Dakota Johnson, and Marc Jacobs were among the celebrities spotted smoking in the loo. Which allegedly resulted in the Met receiving a complaint from the New York City Department of Health.)
How does Wintour choose which people to invite each year, then? Aside from those who break the rules, she added, “It depends on the year. It depends on the exhibition’s theme. Actually, there is no simple response or a clearer answer to that.
We’re always interested in attempting to represent a cultural moment and what we feel is occurring in the globe at any particular time, Wintour continued.
How does she handle any famous people who are irate because they were left out? Andrew Bolton says,” Well there is always another year. Each and every year we mix and change things up to not make it the same. So we try to invite new and different people every time. Of course, people who could not attend this year always have next year.
