One of DC’s major motion pictures this year will be The Flash. James Gunn claims that it will fundamentally alter everything. Now that Gunn has finally revealed the direction his new DC world will go. We know that The Flash may very well be the turning point at which the DC universe transforms. Before James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed their respective positions, The Flash was already planned. While it now appears that Gunn will use The Flash to reset the DC Universe by tying the DCU together.
The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, will be a reset point for the 10-year plan. Created by the new co-heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, which confirms fans’ fears. The next film’s theme of time travel. The multiverse provides Gunn and Safran with the ideal justification for beginning their new DC Universe plot from square one.
How can we predict which changes The Flash will bring about in the DC Universe? In addition to the future DC movies we already knew about. Gunn’s introduction revealed 10 brand-new projects. The projects themselves don’t tell much about the DC Universe. The Flash’s plot may provide us with some insight into Gunn’s future intentions. The narrative of The Flash alluded to a comic book storyline that launched a significant series of events in DC Comics. We might get a glimpse into the future of the DC Universe if we assume that The Flash will take inspiration from the Flashpoint event in DC Comics.
In a press conference to reveal the DCU’s future, Gunn and Safran described how the upcoming films produced at Hamada’s request will actually aid in a seamless universe reset. Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, Aquaman, the Lost Kingdom, and The Flash are the four DC Universe films that are currently scheduled for release on the Warner Bros. Discovery calendar. Additionally, they will all somehow integrate into the new story, according to Gunn. As stated by Gunn:
So, how can we put these things together, make sense of them, bring them all together, and create a single, true universe?…Since we have Shazam, Flash, which resets everything, and Blue Beetle, which is completely unrelated, I honestly believe that we’ve been lucky with the following four films. But the one thing we can guarantee is that everything will be canon and connected starting with our first project. Some historical actors are being used; some historical actors are not. But after that, everything will be connected and constant.
Warner Bros. Discovery has not yet released an official synopsis for The Flash. But it’s safe to assume the story will be similar to the Flashpoint event from DC Comics based on an early title for the movie and rumors that circulated about it as it was being made. The Flash, Barry Allen, then awakens in a different universe as a result of that scenario. He learns that he has altered history by using the speed force to travel back in time and save his mother’s life. War had wreaked havoc on the planet and altered the course of many superheroes’ lives.
In 2014, the same year Miller debuted as the Scarlet Speedster in the DC Extended Universe, a solo film for the Flash was announced. Since then, a lot has occurred, with Zack Snyder getting fired by Warner and Walter Hamada seizing control of the DC Universe. The Flash underwent many revisions before it finally became a retelling of the cherished Flashpoint plot. The Flash uses the Speed Force in the narrative to go back in time and stop his mother’s murder. However, he unintentionally destroys the multiverse and finds himself in a reality where former buddies have turned into lethal foes.
Miller is joined in the cast of The Flash by Michael Keaton as Batman, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verd as Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, who takes over for Billy Crudup as Barry’s father following his appearance in Justice League. Supergirl will also appear, played by Sasha Calle. Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso, two prominent social media users, have unspecified roles in the film. The screenplay for The Flash was written by Christina Hodson of Bumblebee, and it was directed by It’s Andy Muschietti.
Since The Flash movie would adopt the Flashpoint plot, it seems sensible to utilize this as a justification to clean up some loose ends and advance with a unified DCU. We are all aware that the last few years have been chaotic due to the DCU’s inability to maintain a single cohesive narrative and establish a tone. Therefore, a blank slate seems like the ideal chance to lay good groundwork for the future.
On June 23, 2023, The Flash is currently slated to hit theatres.
