Godzilla vs. Kong is Your highly-anticipated and long-delayed fourth Episode at Legendary’s MonsterVerse. The movie will follow the end of 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which put up a battle between the alpha of the Titans and the King of Skull Island in the film’s credits.
Despite how both pop culture icons have been around more than half of a century, they have just clashed one time around the big screen so far. More than 50 years following their first fight in Toho’s King Kong vs. Godzilla, both Titans will face each other again in Godzilla vs. Kong.
This is a showdown that Legendary has had in the works as far back as 2015. It was famous two decades before the release of Kong’s solo film, Kong: Skull Island, he’d be coming to blows with the King of the Monsters, and it would occur after two movies published: Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
With a grand Godzilla vs Kong trailer release on January 24, 2021, along with back-to-back poster releases, the manufacturers know how to keep the viewer hooked. For lovers in India, the trailer will be released in three local languages – Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, in addition to English.
Godzilla vs Kong is slated to have a summer release, March 26, 2021, to be exact. The movie will launch worldwide in theatres, including in India, and will then be published on HBO Max for its US audience. The movie is said to be among the costliest films of 2021 having an estimated $160–200 million funding.
Who’s returning to Godzilla vs Kong, and also what new characters will we?
Not satisfied with Godzilla and Kong together in 1 place, the MonsterVerse managers are bringing in the big guns with all the casting too.
First up, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown will reprise her King of the Monsters role as Madison Russell, a Monarch scientist’s daughter who’s somehow connected to the Titans.
Meanwhile, her daddy Mark Russell will once again be portrayed by Kyle Chandler, and Zhang Ziyi has verified to reunite as the mystical Dr. Chen, a character who appears to be functioning for Monarch.
A few new faces have joined the rankings also, such as Big Little Lies star Alexander Skarsgård, Deadpool’s Julian Dennison, The Nuns’Demián Bichir, and Brian Tyree Henry of Atlanta fame.
However, the list does not end there, because the star-studded outfit grew with the addition of Eiza González (Baby Driver), Lance Reddick (John Wick), Rebecca Hall (The Prestige) Shun Oguri (Crows Zero), along with Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist).
With each addition, there are a few actors who might not be making a comeback to the almighty monster mash-up. This includes Charles Dance and O’Shea Jackson Jr that, despite surviving the carnage of King of the Monsters, revealed to which they will not be viewed in Godzilla vs Kong.
According to the Godzilla vs. Kong official synopsis, Godzilla and Kong will fight it out at a”spectacular battle for the ages”. Exactly why they’ll be at odds hasn’t been revealed, but it’s known that their fight will have a definitive winner. Additionally, an action figure leak loathed that Mechagodzilla – Godzilla’s robotic counterpart from Toho’s movies – will be contained, possibly as the main antagonist who forces both to unite.
As for the film’s human story, Monarch will be investigating the source of the Titans. Based on the teases provided from the King of the Monsters credits, the company will achieve this by researching the Hollow Earth entry-stage under Skull Island. Further complicating matters for the characters are going to be the addition of a villainous team who have orchestrated a conspiracy to eradicate all of the Titans.
