There are allegations that Jennie and several of her bandmates will not extend their contracts with YG Entertainment. Blackpink’s Jennie has confirmed that she is working on new solo material. The K-pop diva and actress revealed in her cover interview for the October 2023 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Korea. It is said that she is preparing to release new music, teasing that it will be “unique.”

“I’m making a song that’s by Jennie, the most Jennie, and something unique that is only Jennie’s,” she told Korea JoongAng Daily. It will be her first formal release outside of the group since her debut song ‘Solo’ in November 2018. So far, Jennie’s only other solo material has been the song ‘You & Me (Moonlight),’ which she started performing on BLACKPINK’s ‘Born Pink’ global tour last year but has yet to receive an official release.

Jessie teamed up with The Weeknd on the HBO series ‘The Idol’

Earlier this year, she teamed with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the song ‘One Of The Girls’ for the soundtrack of the HBO series The Idol, in which she also appeared. The announcement comes as BLACKPINK negotiates a contract extension with their longtime agency, YG Entertainment.

According to several local media outlets, Jennie, along with bandmates Jisoo and Lisa, will not be renewing their contracts. If this is true, Rosé will be the only member to remain with the firm, yet the same rumors suggest that BLACKPINK is now in talks to continue operating as a group.

However, YG Entertainment has subsequently said nothing about the group’s contract. Renewal has been confirmed and it is still being discussed. HBO confirmed last month that The Idol had been canceled after one season. “After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers, have decided against a second season.” “We’re grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work,” a television network representative stated.
