Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ tour released in theaters as a concert film

The theatrical release date for Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour is expected to be Dec. 1. The post-Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend, which is often a dead zone at the box office. AMC did not respond to a comment request. Interestingly, AMC is aiming for a grand slam in 2023. Given that the 2024 theatrical release calendar will be considerably disrupted by films pushing due to the actors’ strike.

On December 1, 20th Century Studios will release The Bikeriders, a Jeff Nichols-directed film starring Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and Austin Butler. While Lionsgate will release Silent Night, John Woo’s first US feature in 20 years. It won’t be surprising if they move.

Capitalizing on the rumored big screen fever of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, we’re hearing this morning that AMC’s next big concert film is Beyonce: Renaissance World Tour. Which, like Swift, has been a hard-to-get-live event ticket this year.

According to sources, Beyonce filming Renaissance World Tour in her hometown of Houston

Beyonce is expected to make the announcement as early as tomorrow when Renaissance stops in Kansas City. MO, about 16 miles from the world’s largest exhibitor’s headquarters in Leawood.

The status of this is that AMC is continuing talks on this theatrical release, and it’s a similar set-up to Eras Tour. The circuit primarily distributes to all other major exhibitors like Regal, Cinemark, Marcus, and so on. As well as indie distributor Variance booking. According to Deadline, the Beyonce concert footage was being marketed.

If this works out, it will be another clever gesture by AMC CEO Adam Aron in protecting cinema at a time when the 2024 theatrical release calendar may be further disrupted by the ongoing actors’ strike. Queen Bey’s AMC arrangement comes after Taylor Swift partnered with the same chain to launch her Eras Tour in theaters on October 13.

Beyoncé, 42, is no stranger to concert documentaries. In 2004, 2007, and 2010, she released DVDs of her “Dangerously in Love,” “Beyoncé Experience,” and “I Am…” tours, respectively. While her On the Run program with her husband, Jay-Z, aired on HBO in 2014. The global superstar’s most acclaimed live release, though, was 2019’s “Homecoming,” which brought her seminal 2018 Coachella performance to Netflix.
