Early Life and Family
Arnab Ranjan Goswami is an Indian news anchor and popular journalist. He is also the managing director and editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network. Born on 7 March 1973 in Guwahati, Assam, (Present Age: 48 years old) Arnab was born to Manoranjan Goswami and Suprabha Gain-Goswami. His father Manoranjan served in the army for nearly 30 years and later he wrote books and columns in esteemed newspapers. He also joined BJP, although he did not succeed in his political career. However, his mother Suprabha is an author.
Arnab Goswami me Samyabrata Ray while they studied at the Hindu College in Delhi University. They became good friends and soon after got married to each other. Professionally, she is also a journalist and a co-owner of Republic TV. The couple has a son together. They have named their son Che Goswami. His name is particularly inspired by Cuban-Argentinian revolutionary Che Guevara.
His Education and Career
While in Guwahati, Arnab completed his primary school education at a private school. Due to his father’s transferable job, he moved to different states. Therefore, he completed his 10th Standard from St Mary’s School in Delhi Cantonment. And, for his 12th Standard board exams, Arnab studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jabalpur Cantonment. Thereafter, Goswami attained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the prestigious Hindu College in Delhi University. In the year 1994, Arnab completed his Master’s in Social Anthropology from St. Antony’s College, at Oxford University.
In the subsequent year, he began working with The Telegraph as a journalist. However, he left this job in less than a year. In 1996, he joined NDTV and moved to Delhi for his job. At NDTV, Arnab anchored daily newscasts for 10 years. During his time at NDTV, he even won the award for the Best News Anchor of Asia 2004.
In 2006, Arnab joined Times Now news channel as the editor-in-chief. Arnab hosted a special program titled Frankly Speaking with Arnab in which he interviewed famous personalities. Some of the people he interviewed are Narendra Modi, Dalai Lama, Benazir Bhutto and Hillary Clinton. Arnab worked at Times Now for 10 years (till 2016) and left the job stating the reason as lack of journalistic freedom and editorial differences.
