The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be Marvel Studios’ second exclusive series for Disney +. The series premieres this March, shortly after the end of Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series will explore the new adventures of the Winter Soldier and Falcon following the retirement of Steve Rogers as Captain America at the end of Endgame. In addition, the duo will face Baron Zemo again, who already made his first appearance in Civil War and managed to antagonize the Avengers.
At the end of Endgame, Steve Rogers hands over the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson. So everything indicates that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will follow Wilson’s decision and how he ends up accepting the shield and the corresponding responsibility. But actor Anthony Mackie is not so sure this is going to happen. During an interview with James Corden on The Late Late Show, Mackie assures that Sam Wilson never comes to accept the shield. In addition, he clarifies that his role is next to Captain America, not replacing him.
“The thing is, if you watch Endgame, at the end of the movie Sam Wilson never comes to accept the shield. The truth is that he tells Cap that the shield is his and it doesn’t feel right on his arm. If you look at it this way, Marvel is very good at creating characters throughout various films. And from the Winter Soldier until now, my goal in the Marvel universe has been to help Cap, to be his friend. So, at no point in Endgame do you see Sam Wilson accept the shield. In fact, he would have been happy to come back and be next to Capi again ”.
Anthony Mackie goes one step further and questions the rumors that place him as the new Captain America. The actor assures that if so, there would already be leaked images of the paparazzi during the filming of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Mackie clarifies that they filmed much of the series abroad. So, as happened with the signing of Hailee Steinfeld in Hawkeye, this detail would have already leaked if true.

All Marvel movies, all paparazzi have leaked images of a character or an event before the movie was released. So, if we are filming in Atlanta, Prague, or in open areas and I am Captain America… No paparazzi have taken pictures of me? ”
At the moment, it is true that no images of Anthony Mackie as Captain America have been leaked during the recordings. But recently one of the promotional action figures for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was leaked. In this one, Falcon is seen in a new suit, similar to Captain America. Also, a promotional image of Anthony Mackie wearing the suit. So it is possible that the actor is playing the distraction before the premiere of the series. Or that is true and finally do not occupy the position of Captain America.
