The auspicious celebration of Navratris may bring some more good news to Central government employees that have been waiting for the government to announce the Dearness Allowance (DA). According to media reports, employees may hear the good news this month, with a few reports highlighting that the big announcement on Dearness Allowance may be made during Navratri, i.e. September 28. However, the government has yet to make an official announcement regarding the likely date.
Employees’ Dearness Allowance may be increased by 4%, according to recent press reports. This means that the total DA could reach up to 38%. The June All-India CPI-IW has hinted at a rise in DA this month. Employees may receive arrears for the months of July and August in addition to the Dearness allowance increment.

Revision about DA Allotment
Central government employees’ Dearness Allotment is revised twice a year. The first is available from January to June, and the second is available from July to December. In March, the first increment in dearness allowance for the year 2022 was announced. The AICPI figure in December 2021 was 125.4. However, in January 2022, it fell by 0.3 point to 125.1. The All-India CPI-IW for February 2022 fell by 0.1 point to 125.0. (one hundred twenty five). It decreased by 0.08 percent from the previous month, compared to an increase of 0.68 percent between corresponding months a year ago. There was a 1 point increase in March. In March, the AICPI index decided to stand at 126.
To compensate for the price increase, the Union Cabinet increased Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 3% to 34% on March 30, benefiting over 1.16 million central government employees and pensioners. The additional payment will be made on January 1, 2022. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the 7th Central Pay Commission’s recommendations.
