New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan began his four-day visit to Australia on Saturday. During the visit, the Union Ministers will hold talks to widen ties between the two countries in the areas of learning, skills, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. During the visit, Pradhan will co-chair the sixth meeting of the Australia-India Education Council with his Australian counterpart Jason Clare.

In a statement ahead of his departure, the Union Minister said that the reforms in India’s education sector and the renewed vigor in India-Australia relations have created immense potential for both sides to “establish the knowledge economy as a key pillar of our cooperation”. On August 21, the first day of his visit, the Union Minister will interact with people of Indian origin. He will visit Western Sydney University (WSU) the next day to co-chair the sixth meeting of the Australia India Education Council with Jason Clare. NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell will be visiting a school with the Union Minister. He will also visit Sydney-based TAFE NSF (leading education provider in Australia) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) where he will interact with Vice-Chancellors and senior representatives of the Australian Government, Department of Education.
