Will Smith Plays As Richard Williams An Undeterred Father In King Richard

Warner Bros’ King Richard, a movie on sports, is all about the story of the rising of tennis superstars William sisters, Venus Williams and Serena Williams, which is completely from the perspective of their father Richard. Will Smith, who often gives his best when it comes to real-life stories remakes, be it “the Pursuit of Happyness” by Gabriele Muccino or “Ali” by Michael Mann, plays the title role of Richard, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (“Monsters and Men”). Both these films of Will Smith, have been nominated for Smith Oscar for Best Actor. The next biopic, King Richard, is a biopic of the Williams Sisters from the point of view of their Father.

In this film, King Richard presents an intimate look at the training given by Richard to his daughters to become world-class tennis superstars. Richard is an undeterred father who is driven by the future vision of making his girls the best tennis players in the world. Richard, in a trailer, is seen telling his daughters, “This world ain’t never had any respect for Richard Williams, but they’re going to respect y’all.” Richard has a plan for his daughters to move them up globally from the streets of Compton, California, and inspire the whole world by making them fabled and legendary icons. In one of the scenes in the trailer, Richard says, “I wrote a 78-page plan for their whole career before they were even born”. Later, a character says that he is having Michael Jordan on his hand, to which he replies, “I have two”. This film shows how a family’s adamant belief to do and achieve something which seems impossible and make an impact on the world.

The trailer of King Richard portrays the powerful emotional tour by Smith on which Reinaldo Marcus, in his speech says, “You will be representing every little Black girl on Earth.” Will Smith has given multiple movies tackling real-life incidents and figures and till now has also received two Oscar Nominations. The first time he was nominated was through his portrayal of Muhammad Ali, a legendary boxer, in Michael Mann’s “Ali” (2001), and another one was for “The Pursuit of Happyness” (2016) by Gabriele Muccino.

“The Pursuit of Happyness” was a movie about a struggling salesman, Chris Gardener, who becomes homeless along with his son.  Emmy nominee, Aunjanue Ellis, plays the role of a mother to William sisters and wife to Richard in the film as Oracene Price, along with Tony Goldwyn, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, and Dylan McDermott as supporting characters.

Producers of King Richard are Will Smith (under Wrestbook Banner), Trevor White and Tim White (via their Star Thrower Entertainment Banner), and Venus and Serena Williams along with their sister Isha Price are serving as executive producers and the script of the film is given by Zach Baylin.
