When Will Dollface Season 2 Be Released?

The Hulu original, Dollface, released its first season in November 2019. It celebrities Kat Dennings that, clearly, has recently appeared in WandaVision as Jules Wiley, a woman who’s just broken up by her longtime boyfriend, Jeremy (Connor Hines). Reeling from the breakup, Jules must reenter the world of women specifically, the friends she pushed aside in favor of focusing on her relationship. Jules’s buddy group is made up of cast members Shay Mitchell, Brenda Song, and Esther Povitsky.

The series has received mixed to favorable reviews, with the cast receiving a lot of positive praise. Salon wrote, “Dollface reminds us again why Dennings’ droll comedic persona functions as the stable core of a project in this way,” while the New York Times deems Mitchell’s performance as”a treat and a half.”

Early last year, Dollface was formally renewed for a second season, much to the delight of fans (through TV Line). Here is what we know up to now about the upcoming following season.

When Will Dollface Season 2 Be Released?

As of now, there is no exact release date for the second season of Dollface. According to Express, season two was meant to broadcast in November of 2020, which could have been around a year since the first season was released on the streaming service. But like many other shows, Dollface was influenced by COVID-19, causing its creation to be pushed back.

Further, there does not seem to be any updated news on when the series was able to resume creation, meaning it is still likely on pause. Express, when reporting on the matter in June 2020, estimated that the second season would be released sometime in early 2021. But, we are now three months into 2021 and, regrettably, there have been no further updates on when production will pick up. This means fans may have very the wait ahead of them until we get to continue with Jules’s story. The first season will be revisited to tide fans over, in the meantime.

Who Will Be In Dollface Season Two?

There haven’t been any official announcements about any noteworthy cast fluctuations, either departures or additions. It can be pretty much guaranteed that Kat Dennings will return for her lead character the show wouldn’t function without its star. Furthermore, the other lead cast members are highly likely to return. Brenda Song plays Madison, Jules’s best friend from college, whom she reconnects with after her breakup. Shay Mitchell plays Stella, another close friend from the college of Jules’s and Madison’s, who also reconnects with Jules following a break in their friendship. And rounding out the main cast, Esther Povitsky plays with Izzy, a newer friend of Jules who she met at work.

Some other notable recurring cast members who are pretty prone to show up include Malin Åkerman as the CEO of their firm Jules functions for, and two regular colleagues, played by Brianne Howey and Vella Lovell. Additionally, it is likely that Connor Hines, who plays Jules’s ex, could appear in the next season, as his role was so crucial to the plot of this first.

What Will Dollface Season Two Be About?

There hasn’t been any time two plot details released, as of yet, even though we ought to be able to expect to get some of those details following a premiere date was set and declared.

The first season saw Jules struggle to fully reconnect with her friends, whom she failed during her time with Jeremy and who are resentful of the neglect. Once they do reconnect, we see the friends help each other through their various individual struggles, including one storyline in which Jules’s friends invite her to move on out of Jeremy by having a casual relationship with someone else that she can, with a man named Ryan (Derek Theler), resulting in a brief fling between the two. Her friends also have their very own relationship-centered storylines, for example, Madison dating an elderly physician, Colin (Goran Visnjic) who proves to be wed to Jules’s boss.

The final episode sees Jeremy asking Jules to reunite them with him which she rejects, and Jules revealing to a whole wedding presence that Colin is cheating on his wife. Additionally, Stella announces she got into business school in Philadelphia. It ends with Jules and her friends stealing Ramona’s wedding car to drive back to California together. When some storylines were definitely wrapped up with this finale, there’s still plenty of lands to explore with another season. Is Jules really over Jeremy? Can Stella really move to Philadelphia? Is Madison’s affair with Colin over? Additionally, the exploration of these reconnected friendships has loads of space to grow further. We will just need to wait until we have more information about the season to get a better idea.
