Volkswagen’s new sedan Virtus GT will be launched in India on March 8

Along with this, the company has also released the teaser of the top-spec GT version of the car. The design of the car has also been revealed. Let us tell you that Virtus is the replacement of Volkswagen in India. The Virtus GT is likely to get a 150hp, 1.5-litre engine.

The upcoming Vertus will be the fourth model to be based on the localized MQB-A0-IN platform after the Skoda Slavia, Kushak and Volkswagen Taigun. The Vertus will be a bigger side car ahead of the Vento. It will likely get class leading interiors and boot space. The Vertus will also compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Volkswagen Vertus facelift will get new features

As a facelifted model, the new Virtus will debut with revised bumpers, grille, headlamps and alloy wheels along with new and updated equipment on the inside. In the equipment list, the car could be similar to the features of the Taigun. It can get specifications like 10-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, connected car tech, a sunroof, auto headlamps and wipers, a tire pressure monitor, six airbags.

From the new teaser shared by Volkswagen, it is being speculated that the Vertus will get a top-spec GT version which will be quite different from the standard car. The feature list of the GT version will also be different. Talking about the design, unique sporty bits have been given on the outside in it. The Taigun SUV was also designed in a similar fashion.

Specifications of Volkswagen Version GT

The teaser has spotted a different chrome, GT badge and a different design for the alloy wheels from the standard car. Apart from this, the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine can be found in the GT version. Similar to the Taigun, it can be offered in both manual and automatic variants. The Vertus is already on sale in markets like South America since 2018. The model for India will be a facelifted car which will make a global debut. It is likely that the new Vertus will first go on sale in India.

The Vertus could use the same powertrain option as the Skoda-VW India 2.0 model. It will have 115hp, 175Nm, 1.0-litre TSI and 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre TSI engines. In addition, a 6-speed manual transmission will be offered with both the engines. Talking about the automatics, the 1.0-litre TSI will get a 6-speed torque converter, while the 1.5-litre TSI will get a 7-speed DCT.
