Although Mel and Jack managed to cope with their relationship in the second season of “Virgin River” despite the pregnancy of Charmaine Roberts, we will have to wait for a third installment to reach a happy ending. Even if Lauren Hammersley loses her in the main couple’s shoe, she is up for any challenge.
If you’ve already seen the second installment of “A Place to Dream”, you will remember that one of the main stories of the season was the pregnancy of Charmaine, the ex-partner of Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). She was afraid to tell him the news of her condition, so she wrote him a letter and asked Hope (Annette O’Toole) to deliver it to her. About the end, the woman learns that Jack will buy a house and thinks it is for her and her new family, but the father of her twins does not take long to explain that she is wrong and that although he will not leave her alone, he is in love with Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge).
This loving trio will undoubtedly give a lot to talk about in the third season of “Virgin River,” which was recently confirmed by Netflix. As long as she reaches the streaming giant’s platform, Lauren Hammersley has spoken about her character’s future on the series. Learn about the actress’s confessions about Charmaine Roberts.
Being among one of the most beloved couples on Netflix is an extremely dangerous job, but “Virgin River” actress Lauren Hammersley says she is ready for the challenges she faces in the show’s third season.
“For the most part, the people who interact with me directly are very sweet,” Hammersley tells TVLine. “They will say they hate Charmaine, but they still like me and think I play her well. That is good. Then there are some people who don’t acknowledge that the character is not the actress, so there have been some weird interactions that usually end in me saying, ‘Have a great day!’ because I don’t know how to deal with it. ”
In history, the character of Hammersley has meant more of a problem for Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan, whose romance has exceeded fiction and has generated a confrontation between fans of the series, who have not hesitated to express their support for the characters with the hashtag in networks: #TeamMel or #TeamCharmaine.
“There are two sides to the story,” says Hammersley in defense of his character. “Charmaine really wanted Jack to be for her, but her heart belongs to Mel. It’s been difficult for Charmaine, but I can see why people just want her out of the way, because of the chemistry between Jack and Mel, “he adds.
On the other hand, towards the end of the second season, a Charmaine pregnant with twins was forced to re-evaluate her priorities, even if it made her look a bit crazy at times. In this regard Hammersley said: “What Charmaine wants is quite simple. She wants love, she wants a family and she wants to be connected, not just to Jack, but to Hope as well. She feels like she belongs in the salon, but she really wants to belong to Virgin River. She has these broken relationships, and I don’t think many of them are her fault, so I feel sorry for Charmaine. And now she’s pregnant, and the guy who did that to her is going off with another woman. So it sucks. ”
A “Virgin River” theory circulates on social media about how Jack might not really be the father of Charmaine’s twins. The theory also suggests that another character could be the babies’ real father: Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth).
Some fans believe that Charmaine used the pregnancy as an excuse to keep Jack close after he admitted that he no longer felt anything for her. And, in that way, prevent Jack and Mel from being together.
In that sense, fans agreed, noting that the theory would make sense as it would allow Jack Sheridan and Mel Monroe’s relationship to continue.
In the season 2 finale of the series, it was revealed that Charmaine was thinking of moving to Portland and also threatened to raise her children away from Jack. Things got even more complicated when the latter was shot in the abdomen and left in serious condition at the bar.
