‘Vikings: Valhalla’: Netflix announces cast and characters for ‘Vikings’ sequel

Netflix has announced the cast names for Vikings: Valhalla . Although Vikings has ended its sixth season, fans will still be able to remain within the universe created by Michael Hirst . As we had already been announced, the leads will be new faces, but it won’t be long until they are familiar to the audience.

The series will feature Sam Corlett ( The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ), Frida Gustavsson ( Swoon ), Leo Suter ( Maleficent ), Bradley Freegard ( Keep the Faith ), Jóhannes Jóhannesson ( Between Two Worlds ), Laura Berlin ( An Unforgettable Summer ), David Oakes ( The Borgias ), Asbjørn Krogh Nissen and singer Caroline Henderson . It will also feature The Walking Dead veteran Pollyanna McIntosh.. A good handful of actors who will continue to expand the world of Norse mythology.

All of them will be in charge of telling the adventures of the most famous Vikings of their time, such as Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Hardrada and the first King of England of Norman origin: William the Conqueror . The company has also shared a description of the characters:

Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson : Raised on the edge of the world, Leif comes from a tight-knit family, true to ancient pagan beliefs. A physically strong and intrepid sailor, he will be our entry into a Viking world immersed in violent change.

Frida Gustavsson as Freydis Eriksdotter : A fierce, passionate, and headstrong pagan, Freydis is a firm believer in the “old gods.” Like her brother Leif, she comes to Kattegat as an outsider but becomes an inspiration to locals who love the old ways.

Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson : Born into the Viking nobility, Harald is one of the last Viking berserkers (warriors of the Nordic peoples characterized by their aggressiveness and strength). Charismatic, ambitious and beautiful; Harald is able to unite both the followers of Odin and the Christians.

Bradley Freegard as King Canute, the King of Denmark: A wise, cunning and ruthless Viking leader. He likes to keep his friends close, but his enemies even closer. His ambitions will shape the course of history in the 11th century and make him a defining figure of the Viking age.

Jóhannes Jóhannesson as Olaf Haraldson: Harald’s older half-brother. A physically huge and ambitious Viking, Olaf is a violent “Old Testament” Christian, stern and relentless.

Laura Berlin as Emma of Normandy : The young and ambitious Emma of Normandy comes from the Norman court and has Viking blood. Politically astute and one of the richest women in Europe.

Caroline Henderson as Jarl Haakon : A great warrior and an easygoing leader, Haakon rules Kattegat with a firm hand. Although it is pagan, it has managed to keep Kattegat as a city open to all faiths in a time when this is not easy to do. She will become a powerful mentor to Freydis, who admires her wisdom.

Pollyanna McIntosh as Queen Ælfgifu . Calculating and ambitious, Queen Ælfgifu of Denmark has great power in the political struggles that unfold in northern Europe. He always gets what he wants through his charm and cunning to advance the interests of his Mercian homeland and tries to assert himself in the growing power structure of Canute.

Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the events of Vikings, so it is going to be difficult for an actor to reprise his role in the sequel. However, as Michael Hirst announced, the memory of these characters will remain very much alive. “Whenever they meet in Kattegat they will of course talk about the great figures who used to sit at the same table, like Ragnar Lothbrok, Lagertha, Bjorn Ironside and Ivar the Boneless , who were mythical characters even within the series and within Vikings: Valhalla, “says Stuart.
