Chris Hemsworth praises Chris Pratt’s comedic sensibilities as they work together again in the MCU via Thor: Love and Thunder. Taika Waititi is back in the franchise following overhauling the God of Thunder’s franchise with 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, and this time, he promises a much bigger and crazier outing for the Asgardian royalty.
Thor has gone through a whole lot since the passing of Odin and the destruction of Asgard in Ragnarok. He had lost Loki, failed in quitting Thanos, and endured depression, and regrouped with the Avengers to reunite at the Mad Titan. Throughout his adventures from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, he has created new relationships, particularly with his fellow cosmic personalities, the Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s spent time with Rocket Raccoon since they survived Thanos’ snap, but with the ragtag team now back after the events of the Infinity Saga, all of them reunite with Thor at Thor: Love and Thunder, including Star-Lord whom the God of Thunder has experienced a friendly competitive dynamic going on.
Speaking with GQ Australia, talked about working with Pratt again and he has nothing but great things to say about him. The Australian celebrity is particularly impressed with his Thor: Love and Thunder co-star’s humour and the ability to improvise.
“The man is exceptionally impressed with the spontaneity and the comedy and what he includes. It is both funny, inspiring and intimidating.”
Long before Pratt became a fixture at the MCU, he had already made a name for himself since Andy Dwyer at the Parks and Recreation where he was able to hone his comedic skills; seven years of doing the popular sitcom was enough to equip him with all the abilities to bring the quippy Star-Lord into life. Hemsworth himself is doing well with his more humorous take on the God of Thunder. It is no secret that Marvel Studios didn’t always know how to approach the personality, therefore why he was not as connected to the audience the manner Iron Man and Captain America were at first. It was only when Waititi came about that they gave him a more healthy character, something which Hemsworth nailed portraying becoming a naturally funny person himself.
Not much is known concerning the Guardians of the Galaxy’s involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder, however considering they ended filming fairly fast, it’s probable that it will be minimal. This makes sense as the focus of the story should be on Thor, as well as, the other characters that inhabit his franchise like Jane Foster who becomes Mighty Thor in the film. Nevertheless, it looks like the upcoming blockbuster will be leaning on the God of Thunder’s humorous lively with his fellow cosmic heroes for Hemsworth to create this comment.
