Everything You Should Know About Netflix’s New Lower-Cost Subscription Plan
Netflix has officially revealed all of the details of its ad-supported subscription plan. After relying on leaks and assumptions for a long time, we finally know when and how much Netflix’s cheaper tier will cost.
Netflix has dubbed this subscription plan ‘Basic with Ads,’ and it has also stated that the existing Basic plan will remain ad-free, renaming it Ad-free Basic.
According to the report, this plan is priced according to region, so users in the United Kingdom will pay £4.99, while users in every other supported region, including the Americas, will pay $6.99 USD. The company currently intends to launch it in a limited number of countries. The plan will go live on November 1 in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and Canada.
It will be available on November 3 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Furthermore, Netflix has revealed the time of its arrival, which is 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Also, the other plans will remain unchanged, and despite the advertisement. There aren’t many differences between the two basic subscription plans, as shown in the above image.
Users cannot download content from plans such as “Basic with Ads,” but they can cancel at any time and make changes easily. There is still a massive library of TV shows and movies available to watch in video quality up to 720p/HD. The ads will appear at the beginning of the content for about 15 to 30 seconds. And the subscription holder will see about 4 to 5 minutes of ads in one hour of content, according to Netflix.
As previously reported by Netflix, Microsoft will manage the advertisements, so we can expect to see relevant ads. In addition, some of the content is currently restricted due to licencing issues.
