Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher may deviate from Andrzej Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves in a Substantial way: a major character is about to be killed off.
Redanian Intelligence recently reported that among those scenes shot in Hodge Close Quarry in the UK back in October featured a funeral-like scene for its witcher Eskel, whose corpse was captured being devoured by wolves. Series stars Henry Cavill and Paul Bullion were also present, playing Geralt of Rivia and Lambert, respectively.
The situation resulting in the demise of the School of the Wolf manhood is now unknown. It’s been theorized that Eskel’s death may be linked to a battle scene shot at that the Kaer Morhen set, perhaps involving a Leshen, which reports indicated could have serious consequences.
Eskel was initially portrayed by actor Thue Ersted Rasmussen. But after production on the series was postponed due to this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Rasmussen was unable to finish filming and was ultimately replaced by celebrity Basil Eidenbenz.
Season 2 of the Netflix series will accommodate the characters and events of Blood of Elves, which introduced the School of the Wolf along with its mountain fortress of Kaer Morhen, where Geralt took Ciri to train under the advice of his mentor Vesemir and his fellow witchers, Eskel, Lambert and Coën. It is worth noting that all personalities survive in the books, and funeral customs between wolves don’t occur. The death of Eskel is one of the numerous departures from the source material, following changes to characters such as Francesca Findabair, that will look pregnant in the series; and Queen Meve, that will be depicted as being significantly younger than her novel counterpart.
Filming is currently taking place at Arborfield Studios in the UK and will reportedly wrap filming in March. A release date for Season 2 hasn’t yet been declared. Netflix is presently creating a tie-in anime movie, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, researching Vesemir and his life as a young witcher in the School of the Wolf. It’s believed that the movie will be published ahead of the premiere of Season 2. Additionally, the flowing giant is producing a spinoff series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, place more than a thousand years before the events of this series.
The Witcher celebrities Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is currently available on Netflix.
