The Vampire Diaries is an American fantasy high school drama. It is based on the book of the same name by L.J. Smith. The show debuted on CW in 2009. It has 8 seasons and finished in 2017. The show has a 7.7 IMDb rating and an 86 percent Rotten Tomatoes Score.
The show revolves around a place Named Mystic Falls. On her first day at high school, Elena meets Stefan and immediately feels a relationship with him. However, what she does not understand is that Stefan and his brother, Damon, are old vampires.
In addition, the Series focuses upon the vampire’s love triangle between protagonists Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), along with his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) alongside the town’s other individual and not-so-human inhabitants. The show is extremely popular. Many spinoffs like The Originals and Legacies exist also.
The Present
After the conclusion of season 8, the showrunners announced that season 8 will in reality be the end of the show. Each of the unresolved storylines is nicely reversed within an epic episode. The last episode features some significant character deaths and happy endings.

Kevin Williamson is working with the CBS anthology thriller series Tell Me A Story, while Julie Plec is currently focusing on Vampire Diaries spinoff Legacies.
The Studio: Will They Consider?
The showrunners have not explicitly confirmed the fact that there’ll be another season. But, there is a buzz around the corner that the studio is considering bringing the favorite series back for one more season. The only question remains whether the original cast will be back or not. If things settle down in accordance with the fans’ will, then we may get a second season by March 2021.
If things come into play, this season will be after 4 seasons. Till now there is absolutely no confirmation on season 9.
