The release date for The Matrix 4 was set for May 21, 2021, however, on account of this Coronavirus pandemic, filming had to be placed on hold and the release date has been moved back with a complete year to April 2022. It’s currently unclear when filming will restart.
Filming started in San Francisco in February 2020, and a subsequent shoot was scheduled for Berlin in mid-March when manufacturing was made to shut down. Filming was initially anticipated to restart in Berlin in early July as the cast members had signed eight-week extensions. This week, Reeves has been spotted in Berlin, signaling that filming is back on track.

Most recently, Reeves has starred in a different big-budget action movie franchise, John Wick, as the titular ass-kicking antihero, besides starring at the Amazon Prime Video rom-com Destination Wedding alongside Winona Ryder and Pixar’s newest Toy Story film, Toy Story 4, as Canadian bike stunt driver Duke Kaboom.
Meanwhile, Moss combined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as tough-as-nails Jessica Jones attorney Jeri Hogarth, a character who made appearances in sister shows Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Defenders, all of which were lately canceled by Netflix.
There is no word yet on whether other prominent cast members, such as Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus, will return.
Right now, there is no confirmation of exactly what the movie may be about since it is still in very early development.
Asked about the new movie, Lana explained: “Many of these thoughts Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our truth are even more applicable now.
“I’m quite pleased to have these figures back in my life and grateful for another opportunity to work together with my friends.”
