HBO’s wise decision was to grab the chance of creating a TV show on the widely popular game series The Last of Us. The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic world where zombies have taken over the population, and the characters just escape the herd in their area to look for further possibilities.

Unlike the tack and streamlined plots of many zombies movies, the game has an interesting portrayal of the relationship between a child and a smuggler who turns into a fatherly figure. The connection between Joel and Ellie is so good that the game-ending had many players in tears, followed by lauding the studio’s effort to create such an interesting game.

The last of us 2 was released last year and made the franchise even more popular by introducing heavy-hitting characters that made the second iteration more fun, engaging and gory. After huge speculations and rumors of films and TV shows, HBO finally picked up the job of converting a TV series based on the most popular PlayStation game of all time.

The Last of us TV show Cast, Plot, and filming

As per HBO, the show’s plot is as follows: “The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.” The plot is even updated on the Wikipedia page of the game.

Confirmed cast members include Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, both of which are pivotal characters. Riley, Tess, Marlene, Maria have been cast too, but Neil Druckman left a few blanks in his tweet that confirms that not every character is finalized.

The show will feature ten episodes, a relief for many fans tired of directors wrapping up the season with six-seven episodes. However, it is very brave for a TV series to begin with a 10 episode layout. The creative minds behind the show have speculated that the show needs to have multiple seasons to create a deserving TV adaptation of the game. The filming is underway for the tv show but no official tweet by HBO, directors, or actors have popped up on Twitter yet.
