Here is what to expect from The Expanse season 6 and when to expect. Starting on the Syfy channel as an underrated gem, The Expanse originally conducted for 3 seasons between 2015 and 2018, telling the story of this Rocinante team as they investigate alien interference and political misbehaviour in a colonized solar system. Starring Steven Strait as James Holden, Dominique Tipper as Naomi, Wes Chatham as Amos and Cas Anvar as Alex, The Expanse was praised for its detailed science fiction universe, stressed mystery storytelling and intriguing characters, but was cancelled nonetheless by the Syfy network. Fortunately, Amazon stepped in to give The Expanse new life from season 4 onward.
The Expanse season 5 choices up with all the Belt’s Marco Inaros establishing himself as the new baddie in the city. An extremist with links to Martian rebels, Marco assails Earth with a spray of asteroids whereas the Rocinante team are spread out and split. Holden witnesses the Free Navy’s assault on Tycho then lays off after Marco, Naomi attempts and fails to rescue her son before ending up on the sabotaged Chetzemoka, Amos experiences the destruction of Earth first-hand, and Alex joins Bobbie to investigate the Martian ending of Marco’s operation. The Expanse season 5 now over, what exactly do we know about season 6?
Renewal
The Expanse was renewed for a sixth season before the fifth aired, however, Amazon concurrently affirmed this would be the show’s final voyage. The original Expanse book series by James S.A. Corey runs for a total of 9 novels, adapting approximately one quantity per season, so expect some significant deviation in the past season. The chance of The Expanse’s story continuing past season 6 was broached by showrunner Naren Shankar, who acknowledged the discrepancy between 9 books and 6 seasons, and replied coyly with”that could be more of a question for our studio.” Factors that might’ve possibly played into The Expanse’s blackout comprise the novels’ forthcoming time jump, an inability to crack the mainstream, and a not-insignificant budget.

Release Date
There are no official premiere date set for The Expanse season 6, but December 2021 is a pretty safe bet. At Syfy, The Expanse’s release schedule lacked consequences, but it’s another story at Amazon. The Expanse season 4 premiered in December 2019, and season 5 in December 2020 after completion of filming in the first few months of this year. One would assume The Expanse season 6 will picture imminently ahead of a December 2021 release. Sad to say, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a spanner in the works. With lockdowns and restrictions still in place across the world, production could take more than usual.
Story Details
Adhering to the present version, The Expanse season 6 will accommodate events in Babylon’s Ashes book. Since Earth continues to grapple with the aftermath of Marco’s attack, war rages between the Blue Earth as well as the Free Navy, with Marco Inaros trying desperately to tighten his dominance of the machine. The Rocinante combines the battle, naturally, but another enemy soon rises from the Laconia system. Those alien ships return to life by Paolo Cortazar surely aren’t likely to remain idle for long.
The presence of the so-called malevolent Aggressors who wiped from the Protomolecule creators continues to grow following the destruction of the Barkeith. The mystical species is quite obviously displeased from the reactivation of the Protomolecule, but only Holden and Elvi Okoye are truly aware of this shadowy enemy. Together with The Expanse’s future 6 unsure, the extra-terrestrial side of the narrative might be accelerated from demand. Following allegations of sexual misconduct, Alex will not appear in The Expanse season 6.
