Star Trek – Discovery Season 3 co-showrunner Michelle Paradise says on Twitter, Season 4 production is underway. Doug Jones confirms he’s ready for all the makeup operations needed to reprise his role as Saru.

Season 3 released just 4 weeks ago and it wasn’t long before the official renewal for a CBS All Access Season 4 was announced. The crews have released filming operations in Toronto, Canada. “Here we go!” Tweets Paradise.

The production of the third season of Discovery was completed last February, just before the shutdown in March. Work in Hollywood and Canada has only recently resumed, under strict new protocols. Recently, Doug Jones spoke about how things will be different in Season 4: “The departmentalization of everything on set, there’s going to be different department bubbles and a lot less shuffling with fewer people on set. And maybe a shorter workday too. We’re not sure how it’s going to turn out. It’s like a big COVID dance and we’re going to film a bit to do a series while we’re at it. ” [laughs]

Another change will also take place: outdoor filming will be reduced and instead the actors will perform in front of an augmented reality wall allowing the creation of virtual sets.

It is not yet known how many episodes of Discovery will be produced for Season 4. Alex Kurtzman, CBS Trek Universe super showrunner, also plans to launch production on Picard 2 in January in Southern California and on Strange New Worlds 1. in Ontario early in 2021 no doubt. We also do not know when these new seasons will be available on CBS All Access which will have become Paramount + in the meantime.
