PM Modi, on the 75th Independence Day celebration, in his 1.5-hour-long speech touched various social welfare projects which were launched in past years during his term in office as PM. Six schemes that were listed out by PM Modi are Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojna, Twin Life Insurance Scheme, Atal Pension scheme, Har Ghar Jal scheme, and PM Housing Scheme. PM Modi in his speech in Red Fort, said, “Crores of people are getting the benefits of many schemes started in the last seven years. Today the speed of government schemes has increased and they are achieving the desired goals… We have to make our resolutions come true within a few years,”.

  1. Ayushman Bharat

Launched by PM Modi as a part of the National Health Policy of 2017, Ayushman Bharat was aimed at achieving the conception of Universal Health Coverage(UHC). It has its signature line “leave no one behind” and cater to the poor, and lower and vulnerable section of the society. It provides free medical insurance and covers the economically weaker sections of the society for medical emergencies, costs, and expenses.

  1. Ujjwala Yojna

In 2016 May, this scheme was launched to distribute LPG gas connections to the families below the poverty line and making them accessible to cooking gas cylinders without paying the retailers. 11,000 LPG centers for distribution have been opened up all across the country since 2016. This scheme aims at providing clean cooking to prevent various health hazards and indoor air pollution to vulnerable households. On August 10, 2021, Ujjwala yojna 2.0 is launched that adds 10 million more beneficiaries, which also includes migrant workers.

  1. Twin Life Insurance Schemes

Two life insurance policy was launched during the first term of PM Modi, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY) with 23 crores beneficiaries and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna with 10 crore beneficiaries.

  1. Atal Pension Scheme

Started by Government of India, Atal Pension schemes aim is to provide continuous income to all the citizen of India who is above the age of 60. To avail of this scheme, one needs to select the option as to how much they want to get the pension and then invest according to that. One can get a pension of Rs 1000 per month to rs. 5000 per month. Investment is different for different age groups of people to receive a pension at the time of retirement.

  1. Hair Ghar Jal Yojna

To provide fresh tap water to every household by 2024, Har Ghar Jal Yojna was launched by the govt of India in 2019. Worth Rs 5555 crore, this project is aimed at providing tap water to about 41 lakh villages esp the Sonbhadra and Mirzapur districts of Uttar Pradesh.

  1. PM Housing Scheme

Under Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojna, affordable housing will be provided to the poor. This scheme has an aim to build 2 crores such houses by March 31, 2022. Beneficiaries of the scheme will be the Middle and Lower Income group, and EWS group of people, and also people for SC, ST, and OBC categories. Women from EWS and LIG sections are also eligible for the scheme.
