Russian Doll is shaping up to be Netflix’s new big hit. Season 1, consists of 8 episodes of 30 minutes, already conquest is the heart – and evening – of many viewers. But also the criticism since the Rotten Tomatoes site, reputed as one of the most formidable, posts 100% positive reviews for Natasha Lyonne’s series.
The pitch? Nadia, played by the excellent Natasha Lyonne (whom we already adored in the role of Nicky in Orange is the new black), dies on the evening of her 36th birthday, hit by a car. She then returns to a precise moment of her birthday party and relives the hours before her death in a loop. A sort of A Day Without End in Modern Times, where the heroine is determined to regain control of her life – or in this case of her death – in hand.
Russian Doll Season 2 Already In Preparation?
If Netflix has not yet announced anything about the preparation of season 2 of Russian Doll, all lights seem green. The creators of Russian Doll – Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headlan, just that – have indeed sold the series to Netflix by pitching not one, not two but three seasons of Russian Doll.
Leslye Headland, interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, explained recently: “We pitched three seasons on Netflix, totally crazy, moving, exciting ideas. And they said to us: Great, the more the better.
Given the success of the series, both among viewers and critics, the idea of a season 2 seems more than likely. Hopefully, we are not mistaken, to avoid having to say goodbye that same year to Nicky from Orange is the New Black and Nadia from Russia Doll.
