Akshay Kumar is back on the big screen with his ‘Bell Bottom’.  Based on a real-life story, Bell Bottom s ready to rock the genre of Bollywood drama.  This action-thriller drama is written by Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh. The film is produced under the banner of Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment. The film was shot in Scotland and Glasgow in the UK.

The Bell Bottom Storyline

The story revolves around a scene of a national crisis.  The crisis is observed when an Indian airplane is hijacked by a group of terrorists in a foreign land. The terrorists force the airplane to land in a foreign country. In this movie, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a RAW ( Research and Analysis Wing) Agent. His code name is ‘Bell Bottom’. He is brought to the rescue of the hijacking incident. This incident is the seventh in the past 5 years.  To rescue the 210 hostages, Akshay’s character devises a daring rescue operation. The story is based on true events that happened in 1984. The movie narrates the story of the covert operation of rescuing the passengers.

Bell Bottom Release Date

Bell Bottom is the first-ever Bollywood movie that has been released in cinemas post-pandemic. This vintage thriller drama has put an end to the long losses faced by theatre owners. It is expected to revive the environment of cinemas.  In India, It was released in the cinemas on 19th August 2021. 

The Cast

Akshay Kumar played the role of  Anshul Malhotra. Vaani Kapoor plays the role of Radhika Malhotra, the wife of Akshay Kumar. Lara Dutta is almost unrecognizable in the role of former President of India, Indira Gandhi.  Huma Qureshi is featured as Adeela Rehman, one of the team members.

Bell Bottom Audience Reviews

Bell Bottom got immense love from the audience and was highly appreciated throughout the country. Akshay Kumar’s gusto is impressionable. Lara Dutta’s acting is convincing in the role of Indira Gandhi. The entire film is 123 minutes long.  It manages to hold the attention of the audience throughout. Many viewers felt that while the movie was entertaining the ending was more than underwhelming. It leaves one with a lot of unanswered questions and dilemmas about what happened and what could have happened.

The movie has got banned in certain countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar. The reason for the ban is stated as misrepresentation of historical facts. According to a source, the Censor Board of the Middle Eastern countries, the second half of the Bell Bottom Movie shows that the hijackers took the airplane to Dubai from Lahore. In the actual incident that took place in 1984, it was the Defense Minister of UAE, who handled the situation personally and took the terrorists into custody. The objection towards this scene must have lead to the ban of the movie in Middle Eastern countries.

In all, the movie commences the reopening of the movie theatres and the audience can treat themselves with an entertaining treat and melodious songs.
