Ram Mandir Inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Ram Mandir Inauguration speech, said, “Our Ram idol will now find its abode in a divine temple.” He elaborated, “The occurrences of January 22 brought forth a positive and special atmosphere. It’s not just a date on the calendar; it signifies the commencement of a new era.” Modi emphasized, “Even a thousand years from now, people will be reflecting on this significant date and moment.”

Ram Mandir Inauguration

On January 22, 2024, in a historic event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. It marked the end of a centuries-long wait. The atmosphere in the holy city was charged with religious fervor as this historic moment marked the official consecration of the Ram temple.

Crafted by sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, the 51-inch-tall idol captures the graceful depiction of a five-year-old Lord Ram standing on a lotus. Meticulously carved from a single block of stone, the idol exemplifies the combination of craftsmanship and symbolism.

The grand event saw the presence of around 7,000 VVIPs from across the nation, including actors, sportspersons, industrialists, and politicians. The consecration ceremony unfolded with military helicopters showering flower petals on the temple premises. Adding a touch of grandeur to the proceedings.

Ram Mandir Compound

Built in the traditional Nagara architectural style, the Ram Mandir compound spans 380 feet in the east-west direction, boasting a width of 250 feet and an impressive height of 161 feet. The vertical structure consists of floors, each measuring 20 feet in height. Supported by a remarkable ensemble of 392 pillars and adorned with 44 gates.

PM Modi’s Spiritual Preparations and Address

Prior to the ceremony, PM Modi followed a strict 11-day ‘anushthan,’ sleeping on the floor and having coconut water. After the rituals, he addressed the gathering in Ayodhya, congratulating the people as the centuries-long wait came to an end. PM Modi urged citizens to “lay the foundation of India for the next 1,000 years.”

Addressing concerns about potential disputes arising from the temple’s construction, PM Modi emphasized that, in contrast, the Ram temple’s construction would generate positive energy, symbolizing solutions rather than disputes. He encouraged a collective pledge to build a capable, grand, and divine India, combining tradition with modernity.

Pran Pratishtha Ceremony

  • PM Modi conducted the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for the idol of Ram Lalla.
  • He later performed the ‘aarti’ of the Ram Lalla idol inside the sanctum sanctorum.
  • PM Modi addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude and acknowledging the arrival of Lord Ram after centuries.

The joyous mood extended beyond Ayodhya, with kirtans and cleanliness drives in villages across the country. PM Modi acknowledged the nationwide celebration, seeking forgiveness from Lord Ram for the delayed construction and expressing confidence in Lord Ram’s forgiveness.

Ram Temple’s Impact on Tourism

The Tourism Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Jaiveer Singh, had made an anticipation. He said that the Ram temple’s inauguration would transform Ayodhya into the world’s most sought-after tourism destination. Efforts, such as helicopter services connecting Ayodhya to six cities within the state and the restoration of ancient temples, aimed to attract millions of visitors annually.

Public Response on the Ram Mandir Inauguration day

On the first day after the consecration ceremony, a heavy rush of devotees gathered outside the Ram temple. All eager to offer prayers and witness the historic moment. Security personnel faced challenges in maintaining order as impatient worshippers broke through police lines.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that people won’t forgive those who declined to attend the consecration ceremony. Congress leaders who declined the invitation faced criticism for turning the event into a political issue.

As the days unfold after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, Ayodhya stands poised to embrace a new chapter in India’s spiritual heritage. The Ram temple, with its architectural magnificence and profound symbolism, is set to leave an indelible mark on the cultural and religious landscape of the nation. The spirit of devotion and celebration resonates not just in Ayodhya but across the entire country. Marking a historic moment that will be remembered for generations to come.
